BATIK

''The techniques, symbolism and culture surrounding hand-dyed cotton and silk garments known as Indonesian Batik permeate the lives of Indonesians from beginning to end.''

This ancient tradition was inscribed by UNESCO on the list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. I had the privilege to study this craft with artists Agus Ismoyo & Nia Fliam. At their Brahma Tirata Sari studio, iYogiakarta, Java. More than passing on a tradition, they teach a contemporary (conceptual) approach

Following this artist residence, My cyanotype piece Flamenca was selected by the Babaran Segara Gunung Organisation for their online exhibition called FiberFace 4; Resonance
